Despite the tough competition in telecom sector, NT has managed to increase its revenue. The daily revenue average of the company last fiscal year was Rs 82.10 million.
According to recently-published first-quarter report of the current fiscal year, the operator earned Rs 8.25 billion from its different services and investments. Out of which, Rs 7.36 billion was earned from the services alone which include voice and data service in the form of mobile, PSTN, ADSL and others.
During the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the operator incurred an expenditure of Rs 3. 16 billion making its net profit at Rs 3.65 billion after deducting income tax.
There are already five other operators in the market excluding NT.
Although NT is the largest operator, Ncell has toppled NT from the leadership position in the GSM segment about six months ago. Nevertheless, the introduction of new services and increasing number of subscribers have helped NT increase its revenue.
NT spokesperson Surendra Thike said, "The number of GPRS has tremendously gone up and the number of GSM subscribers is also overwhelming, which is directly having a positive impact on our revenue."
He further said the contribution of data users is also a major source of revenue and interest of customers in data is very encouraging in recent months. He said that the operator is able to retain its revenue from international calls and fixed lines too.
The operator has more than 6.75 million customers, out of which 5.2 million are GSM subscribers. NT earned Rs 29.98 billion last fiscal year and is targeting to earn Rs 32 billion in current fiscal year.
